Bucalu: Redefining High-Tech Windows and Doors

Since its foundation, Bucalu has been oriented towards the German art of engineering and interdisciplinary systems thinking. The design of the new brand name is based on a typeface by »Bauhaus« artist Herbert Bayer. »Bauhaus« is regarded as a pioneer in the development of a new design vocabulary that incorporates industrial manufacturing processes.

The new brand design of Bucalu is a testament to its commitment to clarity, functionality, and timelessness. Drawing inspiration from the renowned »Bauhaus« movement, the design reflects the brand's dedication to incorporating industrial manufacturing processes into its products. Under the guidance of Creative Director Klaus Hesse, the design team, including Art Directors Shen Tu and Jiang Yi, Designer Feng Kexiang, and 3D modeler Hu Dahao, worked tirelessly to overcome the challenges posed by the complex market of windows and doors. Bucalu's communication strategy had to cater to various target groups, including end users, architects, investors, real estate developers, installation companies, resellers, and its own employees. By considering the interests of each group, Bucalu ensured that its brand design resonated with its diverse audience.

The project, which commenced in January 2018 in Guangzhou, China, was successfully completed in December 2018. Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to understand the vital role that windows and doors play in our lives. Bucalu recognized that these products are not only essential for personal security but also serve as gateways between indoor and outdoor spaces. The brand design aims to convey the sophisticated technology and exceptional quality of life that Bucalu's products offer.

The exceptional design of Bucalu has not gone unnoticed. In 2019, it was awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category.
